I've been asked during Instagram Q&A's a few times what my favorite beauty products are, and while I find sharing my favorite beauty finds a little vulnerable I am happy to do so! Beauty is so fun and personal. I do not believe that beauty is a symmetrical face or a perfect bikini body, but rather a joie de vivre and a feeling and energy that you carry within yourself. I *do* believe that beauty comes from indulging yourself every so often and taking the time to do things that make *you* feel good. Whether that is an hour in the sun, a fresh set of highlights, or a good nights sleep; well, that's up to you! I have found that some ways to feel my best are investing in a manicure, splurging on a good haircut and color, drinking lots of water, indulging in some sweets, and working out (hot yoga and walks with Mr.Ohs) a few times a week. As I get older how I view beauty is less about how others view me, but more about how I view myself! Of course, the following products don't hurt
1. Weleda Skin Food
I love this product for when my skin is feeling extra dry, like after a day at the beach or when I am in Newport. This is extra extra creamy though, so I make sure to use a little bit as not to clog my pores.
2. HomeoPlasmine
I picked up a few tubes of this in Paris, and am obsessed. Is it basically just french Vasoline? 100%, but I *feel* chic when using it.
3. Darphin Aromatic Purifying Balm
I don't know what is in this but it is MARVELOUS. I use a few times a week, slathering it on before bed and sleeping in it. It makes those pesky hormonal acne spots rise to the top and somehow moisturizes the rest of my face as well? This is a desert island product.
4. Sisley Masque Creme a La Rose Noire
I purchase this when I have a gift card, as it is an indulgence! However, I love the smell and feel like my complexions is more even after using. I don't use this as a mask, but rather sleep in it once a week.
5. Clarins Hand and Nail Treatment
This is a nostalgic product. It reminds of visiting beauty counters with Mama Lycette, learning how to find my colors and spraying perfumes. I adore the fragrance and use this every night before bed.
6. Clarins Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch
This is a great "night out" product or when you know you will be photographed. It really does "smooth" lines and create a smooth base; however, it clogs my pores. I use sparingly.
7. Lotion P50 1970
Oof. Stinky and burns, but it really does even skin tone. Worth the investment.
8. Georgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation
I've always invested in higher end products for any skin based product. I adore this foundation. It blends well and doesn't feel heavy.
9. RMS Beauty Luminizing Powder
I purchased this by accident, but I love it! Every time I wear it I receive compliments on my skin. I also love to use this product as an eyeshadow.
10. Cle de Peau Blush Creme
This is a fabulous creme blush and lip stain. I keep it in my purse to add some color on the go.
11. Cle de Peau Concealer
This is another desert island product. It is expensive, but lasts quite a while. If I want a lighter makeup look I will spot treat with this concealer and skip foundation.
12. Chanel Rogue Coco in Mademoiselle
I love this color. It is classic, pretty, and natural.
13. Benefit Roller Lash
Just started using, but am really enjoying! I also love any drugstore mascara.
14. Liquid Eyeliner
Any liquid eyeliner works. I often pick up at a drugstore and just use a flick at the outer corner of my eyes. Purchase a brown color for a less intense look.
15. Esmalte Endurecedor para Unas
A manicurist once recommended this to me. During season I receive gel manicures quite frequently which leaves my nails rather brittle. Every few months I take a few weeks off from manicures and use this strengthener instead.
16. Gucci Westman Squeaky Clean Lip Balm in Ma Puce
The perfect lipgloss. A tint of color and non-sticky. I adore.
17. Peppermint Tea
This could be 100% in my head, but I think my complexion improves when I drink peppermint tea, lemon water too! Could be a placebo, but if it makes me feel good who cares?
Of course, I've found the best way to look marvelous in makeup is to give your skin a break and not wear any for a few days. Exercise, sleep, and time outdoors make for beautiful skin, but mostly beauty is exuded from someone who is happy & healthy!
