Letters from Lycette

Officially Mr. & Mrs. Needlepoint

Officially Mr. & Mrs. Needlepoint

Greg and I were married October 10th, 2020 in Naples, FL. Originally we were slated to be married in Vermont at the Woodstock Inn on the same date; however, this was not possible due to our guest list and restrictions due to COVID-19. Instead, we opted for a small 15 person wedding- immediate family only.

We were married at 9:30 AM on the beach with brunch immediately after. I wore a custom dress. My something blue was my late grandmother's sapphire ring, my something old was Great Grandma Lycette's charm bracelet, my something borrowed were Mama Lycette's pearls, and my something new was my headband and shoes. My bouquet featured hydrangeas and bunches of kale in purple, of course. Wrapped around the bouquet was a handkerchief my aunt had hand embroidered (Greg wore one as well) and the handkerchief that Greg's grandmother Kay had carried on her wedding day. I adored incorporating touches of loved ones who could not be there with us.

I walked down the aisle with my father to a cello and violin playing "She's a Rainbow" by The Rolling Stones, Mr. Needlepoint and I  walked up the aisle to the same instruments playing "Heart like a Wheel" by Eric Church.

Although it was not what we had planned, our wedding was more than we ever imagined. Below are small snippets of our special day- in order to protect the privacy of our family members we mainly included photos of ourselves.

Special note to any future brides out there- I had extreme anxiety about my weight leading up to the wedding. On your wedding day it will be the last thing you are thinking about, it will be the last thing your groom or bride notices. I don't even notice it when I look at these pictures, all I see is happiness. A wedding is more than a dress or a dress size- it's about honoring and joining together with your best friend and partner. I am so happy I married Mr. Needlepoint.

This is just the beginning, we are so excited to continue stitching with y'all. Officially now as Mr. & Mrs. Needlepoint!

All Images were taken by our friend and Palm Beach neighbor, Capeheart Photography.

I don’t know you but I follow you. Your joy radiates (now and before your marriage) through Instagram! I am an avid needlepointer and have been so since age 11. I am going to start ordering from you because of all I’ve said above! Happy wishes for you and Mr. Needlepointer!

Such beautiful photos! I love your message about the anxiety about your weight leading up to your big day. I’m newly engaged and planning a wedding for next summer. That is BY FAR by biggest anxiety about the day and has kept me from wanting to go try on dresses. I LOVE the message of body positivity. You are SO right that it will be the last thing on my mind or my fiancé’s mind the day of our wedding. This was totally the message I needed to hear today. <3
