Criss Cross Hungarian is a gorgeous, textured stitch perfect for backgrounds! It is not the easiest to compensate, but the effect is well worth the extra counting. I love to stitch it with a pop of glitter in the middle, see above. Enjoy!

My favorite new stitch for large backgrounds on seaside canvases! Use a variegated fiber like silk road to create more texture (as seen on the Palm Beach Shell) or use different shades of the same color/different colors to create more movement (as seen on the Apres Beach pillow).
